Spring : Spring 14 : Robin Des Bois

Meanwhile, in the trees above, a Robin checks out his territory. Actually, I'm not convinced it is a robin but that's as close as I can get with visual identification.

It is not an American Robin. They are larger with red/orange bellies. The females are red too, and the young'uns are striped and spotty. Plus they have yellow beaks that seem to me smaller than this bird's longer looking beak..

At first I thought it was an Eastern Phoebe but the belly seems too dark. But it has a bit of a crested head like the Pheobe. It may be a sort of Flycatcher. The beak is long enough, the colour is right and they have a domed head.
