The far shore of Mud Lake looked to belong to an icy fairyland.

Brrrrr ... I'm just glad the face of that snowmobiler that went through the ice didn't show up here.
Ottawa is well known for the huge size of it's Beavers. They also get mighty hungry at this time of the year.
River currents keep the ice from forming but where eddies occur new ice will form before your eyes at these temperatures.
Care to sail into the unknown?
If you sail through the Mystery Gap you just might be teetering on the edge of forever.

I moved away from the siren call of the river and back towards Mud Lake. Marvelous ice forms appeared on every surface.
The ice decorated all without prejudice. Here, a rock gets the treatment.
This scene brought to mind Superman's famed retreat in the Arctic.
